A Common Thread – Green, Brown & Blue

Artist Statement

From the series “A Common Thread”, hand embroidery on real roses. This work communicates literal and figurative messages. A green eye, a brown eye and a blue eye all linked. It’s a celebration of diversity joint together.  An amusing portrayal of a very serious subject. It is not intended that the artwork dictate or place blame. Instead, the work is a channel for reflection on an extremely important issue, mirroring the racism and equality. Presenting issues in a candid and humorous way can help to simplify complex meanings, allowing for easier comprehension and understanding.
